Frequently asked questions

What is a "Feature"?

At CodeDash we define a feature as a function or capability in your software  that provides a benefit or solves a problem for a customer.

When you submit a feature we will break it down in to the individual pieces that are required to build that functionality.

Each piece is called a "work item" and represents a 1-3 day task needed to build out the feature.

Depending on the size and how specific your request is, the number of work items can vary greatly.

Here are some examples:

Large Request (5+ work items):
"Build out the dashboard page"

Medium Request (2-3 work items):
"Add a new view to an existing dashboard"

Small Request (1 work item):
"Fix a bug with the dashboard"

*Please note these are general examples, and can vary depending on the complexity of your software.

Why wouldn't I just hire a full-time developer?

Good question! For starters, the annual cost of a full-time senior-level developer now exceeds $130,000, plus benefits (and good luck finding one available).

Aside from that, you may not always have enough work to keep them busy at all times, so you're stuck paying for time you aren't able to utilize. With the monthly plan, you can pause and resume your subscription as often as you need to ensure you're only paying your developer when you have work available for them.

What if I change my mind mid-way through a feature?

If you change your mind on how you'd like a feature to work, please update the request in the Trello board as soon as possible.

Time spent executing on the previous build can't be reclaimed, but we realign, pivot, and begin working on your new request.

Is there a limit to how many requests I can have?

Once subscribed, you're able to add as many development requests to your queue as you'd like, and they will be delivered one by one.

How fast will I receive my features?

We define a feature above in the "What Is A Feature" section.

Basically when you submit a feature it will get broken down in to individual pieces of work that we call "work items"

The number of work items per feature varies depending on the complexity of your request.

Once the feature is broken down in to work items, each work item will take on average 1-3 days per work item.

Who are the engineers?

Codedash is actually an agency of one. This means you'll work directly with me, founder of Codedash.

What languages do you develop in?

We can work in Typescript, Javascript, or Python, or C#.

As for frameworks we support React.js, Next.js, Node.js, and .NET Core.

How do I request development?

Codedash offers a ton of flexibility in how you request development.

Some common ways clients request development is directly via Trello, sharing UI designs, or even recording a brief video (for those who prefer not to write their briefs out).

Basically, anything that can be linked to or shared in Trello is fair game.

What if I don't like the result?

No worries! We'll continue to revise the software until you're 100% satisfied.

What if I only have a single request?

That's fine. You can pause your subscription when finished and return  when you have additional development needs. There's no need to let the remainder of your subscription go to waste.

What if there are leftover tickets in a sprint?

In the unlikely event that any tickets are left over, we'll move the ticket to a future sprint and conduct a postmortem on the original estimates.

We aim to hit a 100% Sprint completion record - to do this, we pay extra attention at the Sprint's scoping stage, to make sure that the workload is equal parts ambitious, manageable and high in quality.

Can I bring my own code?

We're happy to look into debugging software and trying to improve on an existing codebase.

Please note the languages and fameworks we support above in the "What languages do you develop in" section.

What if I don't have a preference on how it's built?

When you don't have a preference on how the sofwtare is built we tend to lean towards building your SaaS using Next.js, Firebase, and Google Cloud Platform.

We find these technologies to be easiest to work with for both us and our clients, and can operate quickly to save you valuable time getting your product to market.

Are there any refunds if I don't like the service?

When you sign up we will revise setup a call and go over your first feature request. If the method of delivery or the time estimate cannot be agreed upon - a full refund will be issued.

Once you agree to begin work after the initial feature review session, no refunds will be issued.
